Cambridge Elbow Pain Clinic

Our Cambridge elbow pain clinics are based in Central Cambridge and Waterbeach. Our Osteopath uses manual therapy techniques and prescriptive exercise to manage and treat elbow pain. Treatment is uninvasive and provided in a painless manner as possible

What Causes Mechanical Elbow Pain?

Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow) – a condition in which the outer part of the elbow becomes sore and tender at the lateral epicondyle. The forearm muscles and tendons become damaged from repetitive overuse. This leads to pain and tenderness on the outside of the elbow.

Medial Epicondylitis (Golfers Elbow) –  is tendinosis of the medial epicondyle on the inside of the elbow. The forearm muscles and tendons become damaged from repetitive overuse. This leads to pain and tenderness on the outside of the elbow.

Biceps Brachii Tendinopathy – a condition which in the crease of the elbow becomes sore and tender. Where the distal tendon of biceps brachii becomes damaged from repetitive overuse

Triceps Brachii Tendinopathy – a condition which in the back of the elbow becomes sore and tender at the olencranon. Where the distal tendon of tricpes brachii becomes damaged from repetitive overuse

Elbow Dislocation – When the joint surfaces of an elbow are separated, the elbow is dislocated. Elbow dislocations can be complete or partial.

Ulnar collateral ligament injuries can occur during certain activities such as overhead baseball pitching. Acute or chronic disruption and/or attenuation of the ulnar collateral ligament often result in medial elbow pain

Olecranon Bursitis – a condition characterized by pain, redness and swelling around the elbow, caused by inflammation of the fluid filled sac of the elbow joint

What Medical Conditions can cause Elbow Pain?

Osteoarthritis – Osteoarthritis of the elbow occurs when the cartilage surface of the elbow is damaged or becomes worn. This can happen because of a previous injury such as elbow dislocation or fracture. It may also be the result of degeneration of the joint cartilage from age.

Elbow Pain Treatment with Manual Therapy

If the pain has a musculoskeletal origin or cause, then we can provide manual therapy treatment to help reduce the pain severity and improve joint mobility.
